Naturgy Headquarters

In the project for the new headquarters of Naturgy in Madrid, the objective was to update the image of a 1973 building with an obsolete and inefficient design. A comprehensive renovation has been carried out, including the renovation of the façade and the common areas on the ground floor and urbanisation of the building. The building has been certified LEED Gold. The old granite-clad building has been transformed into a new glass building with Valsaín pine wood profiles from Segovia that conveys a modern image aligned with current market trends. The façade’s performance is differentiated according to the different orientations. The north façade is made up of an ultraclear glass curtain wall composed of a stick system which has a clear horizontal character. This façade contrasts clearly with the corner glazings, which are double modules of 5.5 m height. The south façade has a similar formalisation to the north façade, from which it is differentiated by having the parapets lined with composite panels. This south façade also has a characteristic that makes it unique, given that it is protected from the sun by a sloping eave which runs along the three exposed façades of the building. On the other hand, the opaque façades have been renovated with a ventilated façade made of graphite-coloured composite panels, which improves the aesthetic and thermal conditions of the building. In addition, 5 elongated terraces of 2 m depth have been added to the façade for informal meetings and breaks. The renovation of the ground floor and the urbanisation have also been part of the work on the building. The exterior areas of the building have gone from being a car park to a garden area, which has improved the experience of accessing the building and providing new living areas for the user.
